Protagonist Sophronia Temminnick and her coterie of charming acquaintances enter their second year at the fashionable, the inestimable, dare I say it, the incomparable Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality. For those of unlucky enough to have been overlooked during application acceptance, the Blackstone/ Hachette Audio is a ready source of superior diction, and guaranteed to provide the listener with all the advantages fortunate students receive during classes. (We are reliably informed for example, that “quality” is pronounced qual-e-tay,” murmured in a husky drawl.)

It is not all tea and cakes for Sophronia and her clique. An elegant ball with runaway mechanical servants, a mysterious train; unsettled werewolf relations and most annoyingly, a forced engagement conspire to keep Sophronia from focusing on her education and determining the course of her future.

I would suggest reading, or listening to, the first two books in the series. Although you can probably understand Waistcoats & Weaponry without, why forego the pleasure?
